The Colombo show is scheduled for
the 2nd event after successful listing in the International
calendar as an annual show. Sri Lanka needs well-organized
trade fairs to help its traders and producers to establish
direct contacts with the global market. The Colombo
Show is expected to fulfill this. Until now, several
companies in Sri Lanka did not have direct exposure
to the outside market.
This show will be a gateway for
them to diversify their sales strategies to the outside
world. Many dealers have shown a keen interest in
the event. This will provide a great opportunity to
the Visiting Buyers to the widest array on display
for the first time in Sri Lanka. One of the highlights
of the show would be the exclusive pavilions representing
the gem bearing & producing regions of the country.
The pavilions are expected to display collections
of unique and special jewellery backed with a culture
where jewellery has played an important role for many
centuries.
Sri Lanka has so much to offer
with its originality in the jewellery craft. The indigenous
quality was preserved through a special jeweller's
profession which was hereditary- passing down from
father to son.
In a modern world where original arts and craftsmanship
is highly valued, our show is designed to highlight
some exclusive traditional jewellery to the visitors.
Many jewelled articles with sapphires and rubies made
by modern methods as well as handmade will be displayed
at the show. This is the first international gem &
jewellery trade fair Sri Lanka is having since September
last year. In addition to the Sri Lankan exhibitors,
the BIMSTEC group countries are also invited to display
their products.
Thailand, Myanmar & India
will be participating in the gem & Jewellery sections.
The travel cum accommodation packages are extremely
attractive & would provide a facilitated opportunity
for the visitors to attend this fair.
About 700 registered exporters in Sri Lanka are expected
to make their products available at this show.
